We are proud to be part of the XLII National Congress of the Organic Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society (Società Chimica Italiana – SCI), taking place in Cagliari (Italy) from the 21st to the 25th of September. Alongside sponsoring the event, Dipharma is pleased to contribute to the scientific programme.

Our colleague Roberto Rossi, R&D Researcher, will be a speaker on Tuesday 23, presenting:
“The Hidden Chemistry of Drug Development: the job of the R&D Scientist in the Understanding of Process Impurities”.

Roberto Rossi will highlight how the development of an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient begins well before industrial production, with early planning being crucial to success. From intellectual property strategies to impurity management, from process development to analytical investigations, the role of R&D is essential. A case study on Carglumic Acid will further illustrate the scientific impact of impurity understanding.

We are also pleased to share that Alessio Carioscia and Matteo Salvi, both completing their industrial PhD within the XXXVIII cycle with Dipharma co-funding, will present their research:

  • Alessio Carioscia, Department of Physical and Chemical Sciences, Università degli Studi dell’Aquila, with an oral communication on:
“Nitrogen-Rich Carbon Dots as Effective Catalysts in the 1,4-Reduction of α,β-Unsaturated Aldehydes via Ion Pair Asymmetric Nano-Organocatalysis”.
  • Matteo Salvi, Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Pharmacy, Università di Siena, with a poster presentation carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds (CNR-ICCOM), Sesto Fiorentino (FI), on: “Structural Fine-Tuning of Dithienopyrrole Derivatives via C-H Activation for Perovskite Solar Cell Applications”.

Congratulations to Roberto, Alessio and Matteo for their valuable contributions, and our sincere thanks to the Italian Chemical Society for hosting such a valuable occasion for knowledge sharing.
