About Lloyd Simons:

Lloyd leads Dipharma’s R&D team in Kalamazoo, combining scientific expertise, collaboration, and practical problem-solving to support customers from development to manufacturing.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and your role at Dipharma?

I am an organic chemist with more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Since joining Dipharma in 2007, I have contributed to the growth of our R&D organization. Today, I lead the team in Kalamazoo, supporting customers with tailored solutions for complex chemical processes, offering a turn-key service covering all project stages from development to manufacturing.

What kind of challenges do you help customers solve?

Here in Kalamazoo, my team of about 20 researchers supports projects ranging from process development to impurity identification and CGMP scale-up. We often work on complex synthetic challenges including high-energy chemistry and advanced technologies such as high-pressure hydrogenation and cross-coupling reactions, helping customers move their projects efficiently from development to manufacturing.

What motivates you in your work?

I enjoy contributing to the direction and success of the R&D department, tackling complex scientific challenges and working with colleagues to find practical solutions. Seeing a project successfully progress from the lab to manufacturing is always particularly rewarding.
